Avenue Q focuses on the lives of the 20-something main characters who include live actors and just for some zazz, of course singing puppets. As expected with a story of this type the main character is a recent graduate of an Ivy League school that leaves for the big city with bigger than life hopes and dreams. He finds himself thrown into cast of characters that include an out of work comedian, a good hearted sloth of a man, a roommate who's as conservative as Rush Limbaugh an internet addict aptly named Trekkie Monster, and of course the love interest, a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant.
