Council Bluffs
During the late 70’s and 80’s rock music found a hot alternative in The Pretenders. Their combination of punk/new wave and Top 40 pop bridged genres in music like never before. Edgy singles like "Brass in Pocket" and "Kid" helped Chrissie Hynde and company to make their mark in both the U.S. and U.K.
Over the years, the Pretenders became a vehicle for guitarist/vocalist Chrissie Hynde’s songwriting, yet it was a full-fledged band when it was formed in the late '70s. Their combination of punk/new wave and Top 40 pop bridged genres in music like never before. Edgy singles like "Brass in Pocket" and "Kid" helped Chrissie Hynde and company to make their mark in both the U.S. and U.K.
Some other hits include "Don't Get Me Wrong", "I'll Stand by You", "Back on the Chain" and "2000 Miles."

Incubus rose to become one of the most popular alt-metal bands of the new millennium, setting themselves apart from a crowded field with a somewhat less-negative outlook and tireless touring. Incubus is five musicians from Calabasas, California, a semi-rural bedroom community north of Los Angeles who began playing music together out of natural friendship. In the Incubus form of fusion, the nuclei of funk, thrash-rock and hip-hop are joined together, or fused, at temperatures evoking pleasurable sweat, to form a single heavy nucleus.
Incubus have double-platinum plaques for 1999's Make Yourself, home to the breakthrough, Top 10 hit "Pardon Me," as well as airplay champs "Stellar", "Drive," and 2001's Morning View, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and introduced such radio staples as "I Wish You Were Here", "Warning" and "Nice To Know You." Moreover, the band has managed to remain interesting for more than a decade, praised by critics for rampant experimentation amid all the melodic crowd-pleasing.

She did work in a couple of other bands first, like Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie and Angelfish. She also had a music video on MTV before joining Garbage. In fact, that's how the other members found her.
Shirley Manson of Edinburgh, Scotland, who sometimes sounds scary, sometimes dreamy, sometimes sexy, sometimes psychotic. What more could you ask for?" Answers Shirley, "It makes me feel good when someone says I sing my heart out. That's what music's about -- freedom."

Iggy (or Mr. Pop, as the New York Times refers to him) lives in that rarefied zone inhabited by the true avatars of rock who struck its template in the 1960s, and survived through the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and beyond. It is not enough that the Stooges virtually single-handedly godfathered punk rock, garage rock and American heavy metal more than three decades ago, or that Iggy Pop went on to conquer Europe and the far East as a headlining phenomenon in the ’90s. His status today, filling stadiums (and hundreds of websites) around the world with his energy, his nerve, and his charisma indicates that the specter of Iggy Pop is a far more universal force in rock than many suspect.
