Tyrell has spent four decades in the music business garnering countless achievements. In addition to his singing success, Tyrell has reaped accolades as a producer, songwriter and music supervisor and he has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award. Though he’s been a behind-the-scenes success for many years, Tyrell became well known to the public in the 1990s with his performances for the hit movies, "Father of the Bride" and "Father of the Bride II." He made popular once again the classic pop standards. Hits for which he is best known include "The Way You Look Tonight," "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," and "The Sunny Side of the Street."
Tyrell has collaborated on or produced hits for Dionne Warwick, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Ray Charles and Elton John, just to name a few. As an artist, Tyrell has sold hundreds of thousands of albums. In fact, all five of his American Standards albums have achieved top-5 status on Billboard’s Jazz charts.
