The New England Patriots can only be described with one word and that is AWESOME. The Defending Super Bowl Champions come into the 2005
Season more than ready to defend it's crown, although, speculation surrounding some off season changes have some people doubting their chances. The Patriots
lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators, as both have taken head coaching positions. One going to college and the other to another NFL squad. To
further add to the speculation of doom, Team Leader and Defensive playmaker Tedy Bruschi has retired because a stroke he suffered in February 2005 made him unable to play this season, nor find a team willing to take a chance. The defense also lost outstanding corner back Ty Law to an off season trade. On the offensive side of the ball the Patriot's lost two key linemen, Joe Andruzzi and
Adrian Klem, that anchored an impressive line that did a tremendous job protecting Tom Brady. However, that name, Tom Brady, in and of itself is all that some people think is needed in order for the Patriots to continue it's
current dominance in the National Football League.
Patriot Nation has learned to love and be very confident in their leader Bill Belichck and their quaterback Brady, and expect nothing but another Super Bowl Championship. Brady has stared the last 71 games for the Patriot's as quarterback, winning 57 of them. During the 2004 NFL Season Brady threw a career high 28 touchdown passes, including at least 2 touchdowns in every game except for five. Further, Brady has an unblemished playoff record of 9-0 since taking
over the Patriot's starting position. Corey Dillon is still in New England and made a lot of noise for the Patriot's last season. Dillon rushed for 1,635 years
and scored 13 times, while also producing 100 yards in rushing in eight of the last 11 games last season. At the wide receiver post, the Patriot's still have Deion Branch. Branch, who missed seven games last season due to injury came back and didn't miss a step. During the last years playoffs and Super Bowl run, Branch had consecutive 100 yard games in receiving.
It would seem that everyone will be gunning for the New England Patriot's this season, but if we had to point to one game that might be of true significance, it would be the day after Christmas as the Patriots and Jets play
on Monday Night in New York City. The AFC East is, and the AFC in general is expected to be very competetive this season, so it's the forecast is this game will hold a lot of playoff ramifications.
