Mark Knopfler, versatile former front man for Dire Straits, demonstrates his talents as a songwriter, singer, guitarist and bandleader. He is one of the most recognized musicians of the past 30 years, having released such hits as "Sailing to Philadelphia" and "Silvertown Blues." Over the years, Knopfler has collaborated with musicians from every possible genre, including Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, Tina Turner, and The Judds. After surviving a terrible motorcycle crash in 2003, Knopfler is back with a new album, Shangri La. The album is peppered with fascinating stories and lyrics and some of the most engaging melodies Knopfler has ever created, all beautifully realized by the artist and his usual group of multitalented musicians.
