Based and inspired on the singing group The Four Seasons which was headed by Frankie Valli, Jersey Boys the Broadway show, denotes the rise of the group (The Four Seasons) from their humble working-class beginings to superstardom and pop-music history. Jersey Boys is an uplifting, funny, show that will get your feet tapping and your heart soaring, with Four Season classics like "Sherry Baby" and "Oh What A Night". It won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2006. Jersey Boys in New York City is destined to become a Broadway theater legend.
Jersey Boys opened on Broadway in October 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre. Popular songs in the Jersey Boys Broadway production include: 'Oh What a Night', 'Earth Angel', 'I'm in The Mood For Love', 'Sherry', 'Big Girls Don't Cry', 'Walk Like a Man', 'My Boyfriend's Back', 'Big Man in Town'. Four Tony Awards (out of eight Tony award nominations for Jersey Boys) were won by Jersey Boys in 2006, including Best Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (to John Lloyd Young), and Best Featured Actor in a Musical (to Christian Hoff). Opening night cast included some tremendous performances and Broadway debuts. The Four Seasons members (Tommy DeVito, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi, Frankie Valli) were played by -respectively- Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer, John Lloyd Young. Jersey Boys on Broadway continues to be a star on the musical theater scene.
