Frankie Valli
in
Baltimore
Valli's career began in his home state in the early '50s. The subject of a new, New York stage hit, 'Jersey Boys,' the Four Seasons, led by the incredible voice of Valli, have produced a legion of hit recordings that reflect the tough-but-tender sensibilities of their home turf on North Jersey, very much the way that the Beach Boys reflect the Southern Californian musical influence.
Their pop chart successes began in 1962 when the number one Billboard hit, 'Sherry', which showcased Valli's dominant falsetto lead and a distinctive musical style born of the group’s 'doo-woop'orgins. While the 1964 'British invasion' with the Beatles and other Brit performers shortening the careers of many an American pop music act, the Four Seasons not only survived, they continued to thrive. The group had three top hits in 1964, the year the Beatles dominated the record charts.
Over the next several decades, the group maintained a huge national and international following with hit after hit on the top-40 radio stations, and with personal appearances and concerts throughout the world. In addition, Valli had an additional dozen hit records as a solo performer.
