When Elvis Costello released his first album it was linked with the punk and new wave genres of music. But his 25-year career has proven his style can’t be labeled. He has worked with an array of musicians including Burt Bacharach, Paul McCartney, T-Bone Burnett and ska-revivalists The Specials. Along the way Costello has released over 30 albums that range in style and mood and include influences from pop, country, folk, reggae, soul, punk, rock and classical music.
His hits include; "Watching the Detectives," "Oliver's Army," "A Good Year for the Roses," "Alison," "Everyday I Write the Book," "Veronica," "Radio, Radio," "Pump It Up," "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and," "Accidents Will Happen," "(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes," "In the Darkest Place," "This House Is Empty Now" and "God Give Me Strength."
Billie Joe Armstrong, lead guitar and vocals of Green Day, a group that is considered one of the most explosive live bands in modern music. Green Day have set the standard for punk-pop. With 2004's acclaimed American Idiot, which found them changing their punk-pop tack a bit. Generating a Seattle-area buzz, Death Cab for Cutie quickly became a proper band, releasing their official debut album - Something About Airplanes in 1998, in 2000-We Have the Facts And We're Voting Yes, 2001's The Photo Album - each more successful, in content and sales, than the last. In 2003, Death Cab recorded and released the rave-spawning Transatlanticism. Plans was released in August 2005.
To set the record straight, the band's name comes from a song performed by British jazz/rock/comedy combo the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band in the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film.
