The Los Angeles Lakers were possibly the biggest disappointment of the entire NBA last season. Sure they fumbled in the NBA Finals against the eventual champions Detroit Pistons, but the slide had started long before that point. Trouble surrounded Kobe Bryant in a court case that couldn't have helped keep his head in the proverbial "game". Shaq was hampered by injury and the shine and gloss of the once invincible Lakers was gone. Last season was just a huge symbol of a team's fall from grace. 

The Lakers finished up 34-48 even with Kobe, and for all of the faith in an organization that has been great, nothing can seem to sway the pundits from feeling like hope is anything near reality. Even with the Zen Master Phil Jackson coming back to head coach this mess, the players have to make the difference, and the Lakers don't seem to have the horses to make it happen this year.
