Donna Summer Tickets
Beginning as a gospel choir singer in Boston, success came to Summer after moving to New York and Europe to work in various stage productions. As a studio vocalist in Munich, Germany, Summer teamed up with producer Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, which resulted in the 1975 gold hit "Love to Love You Baby."
Gaining career momentum thereafter, Summer became the "Queen of Disco," releasing a string of chart-topping songs. In 1979, Summer was the first female artist to score three number one singles in the same calendar year with "MacArthur Park," Bad Girls," and the disco anthem "Hot Stuff." Her double LPs""Live & More" (1978), "Bad Girls" (1979) and her greatest hits package "On the Radio" (1979)"also reigned supreme, making Summer the first artist ever to hit number one with three consecutive double LPs.
During the 80's, Summer began to experiment with more R&B pop/rock post-disco style. On the Geffen label, she created the hit album "The Wanderer." In 1984, Summer won a Grammy for the single "Forgive me," and topped the charts with the single "She Works Hard for the Money."
Summer's vocal talents received additional recognition in 1997 when the non-LP single "Carry On," a team effort with Moroder, won the inaugural Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Her latest CD set is the 2003 release, The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer.
